How can I find a Laptop Battery that will let me work for more than 2 hours?
I have a Dell Inspiron 5100, about 4 years old. My current battery is a Sanyo 14.8V, 12C lithium-ion that came stock with the system, and I am lucky to get 2 hours with light to moderate use. I tend to do seldom deep-cycle charges - most of my use is on AC power.
On the occasions when I do need to use the system on Battery Power, I really need more than 2 hours! I want to find the biggest, baddest battery out there that will give me the longest work time possible. Can anyone give me a ballpark as far as what sort of time I might get out of a good battery? How can I determine an approximate battery life from the specs given (as of now they mean nothing to me)?

Hi-Cap, higher MaH is what your after... But the problem with PC laptops is this: Every model used a different battery and because of that Hi-Cap battery makers don't bother.
Apple's on the other hand all use the same battery (PPC, INTEL-mode/model) for the most part so you can get a 9hr battery, but stock batterys last for over 5hrs with brightness down and wifi off. With all that up I get 4.5-5hrs on my iBook, 3.5-4 on my MacBook.
Best PC Laptops for battery life are Fujitsu's. Also keep in mind a Li-Ion Battery is only good for 500 charge cycles... But Dell doesn't tell you that do they...
