i prefer the acer laptop because it's cheaper and it's battery life is longer, what do you think?
Personally I would go for HP. Not because I believe it is a better brand, since Acer do have some very reasonable laptops, but mainly because of the comparison of the specs for both laptops you listed.
First of all HP, despite housing an AMD CPU is actually more powerfull than the pathetic T4300 that you will get in the Acer. Another important fact worth pointing out - both Acer and HP come with Win 7, but HP actually houses a CPU which will support Windows7 and XP-Mode, as it has a CPU which is capable of hardware virtualization. M320 mobile CPU supports it and the Intel T4300 does not. You may not think of it as a big deal, but XP mode is extremely useful and it is always worth getting a PC/laptop which has full hardware support.

Secondly, I would certainly rather have ATI Radeon HD 3200 housed in the HP than settle for a Intel Graphics 4500MHD. Now we got that out of the way, I do like the fact that HP comes fitted with a Lightscribe drive. It certainly has its uses if you are familiar what Lightscribe is all about.
Overall, despite the price difference, the HP definitely offers more for just extra £50. If you want to buy a throwaway laptop then get Acer. If you want a laptop which will last you for while then get HP.
